There is no stopping now. Keep moving, that's what I intend to do. Life is here and now, and this is your way of keeping track with all that's happening...

A little behind

I am sorry for the lack of recent updates on this blog... Things have been a lot more busy here than they have before and I have not been able to find time to update (or should I say, have not made the time to update). To remember the major things, I have been writing on this Post-It note the things I do not want to forget. So forgive me if it turns out to be a little disconnected, but remember it’s coming off of a Post-It note! Here are therefore the most recent developments in the life of the Frenchie with a red license plate (i.e. Alberta plate)…

- For those of you who don’t know yet, I have finally finished transferring my car over to Alberta and have given up my beautiful dark blue Quebec plate. I also have no more excuse for driving badly! HAHA… I have transferred my health care, my benefits, my unemployment, everything. I am now all red (color of Alberta). I was holding on to my dear Blue, but the time had come…

- On April 1st, Shane took me out to see “Cats, The Musical”. It was my birthday present and we had a great night. We didn’t really understand what was going on the whole time and had to wait until we got home and googled it on the web to get the idea behind the musical. I was told that Andrew Lloyd Weber, who wrote the musical, was dared to write a whole play about cats, took the dare and wrote “Cats”. And so it was born… The production has since been touring the world for 25 years. Not bad results for writing this as a dare! (I bet you he’s made his money on it too!)

- A few weeks ago, I locked my keys in my car for the first time in 3 years… I have been covered by CAA under my mom’s account since I started driving and now that I live in AB, I have to get my own. It expired on March 31st and on the 4th, while in the process of renewing it (thinking I had a few days to spare), I locked my keys inside the car… ARRGG… I called the garage here and it was $120 for non-CAA members. So I went on the web, registered for the year for $85 and now I have another 4 times free…! Good deal, eh? :)

- Last weekend, Easter weekend, I took the day off on Friday for a day on the hills at Sunshine. It was pretty warm, great weather, but really sticky snow. It was a lot of legwork but it was really fun. On Saturday, Shane, Terry & I went up to Lake Louise skiing for the day. THAT was amazing! It was the most powder I had even skied in. Being from the east, you have no idea what powder is until you get out West. Shane and I were so tired by early afternoon that we had to head home early. It was a great day! I am now a better skier for it.

- For Easter, my friend Mel invited several of our friends over for lunch. She cooked turkey and we all brought a little something to complement the meal. It was great! With the help of her friend Laurel, she had also hidden eggs all over the house and backyard! I felt like I was 6 years old for a few minutes. It was great!

- I have been indoor climbing with my friend Shannon, from work, several times recently and it has been really good! We introduced our friend Chris to it, and he says he’s now hooked. Shannon is really great at it, quite graceful too. Chris pulls himself to the top with no foothold, using solely the strength of his arms while I, for my part, only care about getting to the top!

- My friend Melissa Fancey, from Ottawa, is in town for the week. She arrived on Wednesday and is here until next Thursday. It’s been so good to see her, and get to spend time with her. She is such a jewel and I love her a ton! We are going camping tonight with some friends from work and church and it should be so much fun. This is the kick-off to a great summer…
- One more thing to mention: To celebrate our first month together, Shane showed up at work yesterday with a dozen roses and a huge jar of Nutella. I was so happy to see him there, and quite surprised, but I was on the phone. I had to put my client on hold for a while while taking the time to thank him! I made a lot of other girls in the office quite jealous and I was pretty proud of him for that! As for Nutella, he remembered that I usually keep a jar in my desk for the unplanned munchies… And he remembered that I had just finished mine… He is so awesome…! Thanks Shane!

Although there's been lots more happening recently, I think this is enough for now. I will force myself to write more often... (And smaller entries, easier to read too...)

Love you all,

Annik
