Dinner for Two

We are now into spring and it has started to smell like it already. I do not have to wear big boots, a jacket, mitts & a scarf anymore (not that we really ever had enough snow this winter to justify that, but still…). I feel lighter, I feel brighter, I feel happier. Oh wait, maybe there’s more to it than just the arrival of spring that makes me feel that way... J

On Wednesday, we took the College & Career group out for a night hike. We took 14 young adults up Grotto Canyon (which turned out to be quite icy) and made a big bonfire at the top of the canyon. We had a great time, topped with hot chocolate & brownies. Sure makes you want to stay in Banff forever. I was thinking about my days in Ottawa with no outdoor activities possible but running downtown (yeah, no thanks) or biking on a flat paved road (hum…). Holds no appeal anymore compared to this life… I wonder if I’ll still be here in several years, telling the story to newcomers on how I came to Banff for a summer, decided to stay longer, fell in love, and have been here since. Still, maybe I’ll be telling the story of how I stayed in Banff for a few years then moved to [fill in the blank]. Anyhow, I’m sure I’ll be happy…

I am settling into the girlfriend mode, staying up late waiting for Shane to come say hi after he’s done work or preparing dinner for two instead of one. (Actually, he’s the one who has been cooking all week and has really impressed me, Jack - who was over for a few days - and my roommate Nat). I did not plan on falling in love but it’s happened and I am very happy…!
