Thinking ahead
My boss is off this afternoon, and so I am taking my lunch break to write from my computer at work...
Life has been quite steady here in the past few days, or since I last wrote. Still there are a few things I think are worth mentioning.
I have been calling home and catching up this week, as I really miss them all. So I have talked to my little sister Catherine this week, and got her thinking... maybe she could come to Banff to do her Grade 12. Technically, in Quebec, you finish high school in Grade 11, and then go on to cegep (college) for 2 years. However, if your grades are good enough coming out of high school, you can switch over to an Ontario university right away and skip college (kinda what I did). She is thinking she could come to Banff, do her grade 12, get her English up-to-speed, and move on to any Canadian university after since she would have a diploma from Quebec and from Alberta. She is apparently very excited about it, and so am I. I would love to have my baby sister (who is not really a baby anymore) live with me for a while...
My brother Marc is thinking of doing a university semester in London instead of Montreal. He is thinking of leaving to go over there for the summer, and then staying until Xmas for a school semester. I am sure he would find the first few days to be challenging because of the English barrier, but I am confident he would adjust very fast and thoroughly enjoy his time there. I wish him good luck... He might also be coming over for the Holidays wich would make me really happy! We'll see if it actually pans out.
As for Morocco, I have sent my passport request. It's on its way. It is making a bit nervous that I REALLY need it for my trip in January, and cannot leave without it. But Dad has assured me that I should receive it before I go...
Other news: I met a guy at church on Sunday who is a musician playing with bands like Rivertribe, Rebecca St-James, theBetween, and others. He is only 22 y.o. and already has travelled around the world extensively. I was really impressed. I googled him to find out he has his own website and all... If you guys are curious, here it is: www.jono.com.au. He is the kind of person I certainly want to keep in touch with for the future; good contact to have!
Since I haven't yet spent money on buying new winter tires (I have 4 good ones at home, and really don't want to buy 4 new ones), I have been saving gas and trouble by walking (almost) everywhere. Mom is worried about safety (it's her job to worry about me, I have to give her 'something' to worry about) but I am finding it rather great to walk places instead of driving. I find myself meeting more people along the sidewalks and noticing things and places I hadn't noticed before. Walking has advantages. Plus it saves gas, and therefore money!
My really good friend from home, Stef, is coming over for New Year's. Her cousin Melanie is coming too, as she coming to spend time with her best friend who is also in town. It should be awesome to have some friends around for the Holidays... If you can't go home, let home come to you! :)
I think that's about it for now. Please leave a note if you stop by to read this. It's good to know someone actually reads this!
Love you all,
Annik

when you log into your xanga, go to the page where you have your subscriptions (should be on the left near the middle of your page. When there, click on the tab that says "protected entries" and it should be the first one there.
