London, Malaga, Tangier

Hello everyone,

I am writing from a French keyboard (different location for some letters), and I am finding it quite hard!

I am writing from Morocco. Tangier to be exact! It is beautiful, with palm trees everywhere and the ocean a few meters from here...

We flew to London on the 18th, and did not get any sleep on the way did (Nikole did, I could not). From there we changed airlines and flew to Barcelona and then to Malaga, Spain. We found a taxi driver that did not speak a word of English and somehow I managed to tell him we wanted a hostel. He dropped us at a pretty simple hostel, clean enough, but really nothing impressive. 3 small beds, it's all we needed... Yesterday we awoke to the beautiful city of Malaga, with which I have fallen in love. Unfortunately, we had to make our way to Algeciras, to take the ferry into Morocco, but not before walking around (getting a little lost - not much) and finding a great market for fresh food. We then took a bus (2 hours) to Algeciras, a port town where the ferries leave for Morocco. The ferry ride was an hour only, and by sundown, we were in Morocco.

I am really amazed at the scenery here. It is beautiful! We were told that Tangier was a very dangerous city but we have found it to be very friendly, and we are spending more time here than we were expecting. We have made friends with a couple from Montreal that we met on the ferry, another couple from Germany, a guy from Poland, and a few girls from Perth Australia. We are enjoying having Greg from Poland with us, as it seems to have us a lot of hassle from pushy men compared to our female only Aussie friends.

After emails, we are all going to try out a hammam, public bathhouse (really the only place with hot showers - or hot water period), then head out to Asilah tonight. As for tomorrow, well, we'll see!

So please don't worry for me! Things are great here, and our Canadian money goes really far (it's really cheap here!)... I am having the time of my life!

Take care, I'll email again soon!

Love you all,

Annik
